8:00-10:00a- Continental Breakfast- Main Lobby

10:30-12:30a- Crafting morning! Come and go as you please. Do all the crafts or just one. Most options take less than thirty minutes!

  • Bookmarks Galore

    • Bookmarks, Bookmarks, and More Bookmarks! Make one or make them all. We’ll have multiple versions of bookmark crafts for you to choose from in many different mediums.

  • Coastal Crafts

    • Seashell ring dishes and catchalls to bring home for a special reminder of your weekend.

12:00p: Grab and Go lunches.

  • We asked that lunches be prepared so you have the option to take it back to your room and read, out on the front porch, or you could sit in the lobby area’s smaller dining area too!

2:-00p- In conversation with Steven Rowley and Byron Lane

  • Room TBA- Join us as we chat with Steven Rowley and Byron Lane virtually about their novels. We are so excited to speak to this literary power couple about their respective beloved works!

    • Jenna and Kristen will be preparing questions to guide the conversation, but this is also YOUR opportunity to join the conversation and speak to the duo with your own questions! Prepare questions before or present one in the moment!

    • If you feel you won’t be comfortable asking in person, but know you have something to ask, please share with Kristen or Jenna ahead of time or before starting so they can include in the questions!

  • Steven Rowley is the New York Times bestselling author of Lily and the Octopus, a Washington Post Notable Book; The Editor, an NPR Best Book of the Year; The Guncle, winner of the Thurber Prize for American Humor and Goodreads Choice Awards finalist for Novel of the Year; The Celebrants, a Today Show Read with Jenna book club pick; and The Guncle Abroad. His fiction has been translated into twenty languages. He resides in Palm Springs, California.

  • Byron Lane is the author of A Star Is Bored, hailed by the New York Times Book Review as “wildly funny and irreverent.” He’s a playwright, screenwriter, Emmy Award–winning journalist, and former assistant to actress Carrie Fisher. He’s originally from New Orleans and lives in Palm Springs, California, with his husband, author Steven Rowley, and their rescue dogs, Raindrop and Shirley.

  • A complimentary Aperol Spritz (Palm Springs Chic) and a snack will be provided.

5:00p- Cocktail craft jars and Happy Hour.

  • Create your own infusion jar to bring home!- Lobby Area

    • Combine your literary prowess and artistic flair to create your own crafted cocktail jar mix to bring home with you!

    • You will be able to decorate your jar and then add a dry mix of ingredients that you can add alcohol or juice to infuse later.

    • Take home some cocktail recipes with a Literary Twist to help after your retreat.

    • After infusing and enjoying your creation, you can double the jar as a TBR jar for later!

6:30p- Dinner at Ocean 193 (cash bar)

  • Meet us there promptly at 6:30PM or Meet in the lobby at 6:15PM to walk over together.

Post Dinner-Genre Speed Dating!

  • This will be a quick post dinner activity! (30-45 minutes- alcohol included)

  • Come prepared to share you favorite books from YOUR Favorite Genre! Everyone will leave with a new list of other guest 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 reads to try when you get home!

  • Since we’ll wrap up earlier this evening- read in your room, commune with the group, or check out the PTOWN nightlife!

Throughout the day, if you would like to use the complimentary bike rental, let Jenna or Kristen know and they’ll give you all the details!
